For my week 6 project, I choose to use the Picnik editing site and the Photo Peach slideshow site. I found these sites to be easy to use, and I was able to complete my editing and slideshow quickly. I used pictures that I took of the students working on their solar cookers. I thought that I would show the slideshow while that students are working on their Wave Stations. I was really a lot of fun to do this activity, and I plan to use this in the future with pictures of family to show at family reunions or get togethers.

Amy, I luv working with different photo editing sites, so I think I’m going to have to take a look at the Picnik site. And I like your idea of showing a slideshow of the kids working on their solar cookies while working on their Wave Stations.. ;)

I love the idea of taking photos of our students, because we could do a culminating slide show at the end of the year from different activities, etc. that we have done during the school year. I think that we need to put you in charge of being our hallway photographer. :) I think that the students would love that on the last day.

Week 6 I am creating a Jeopardy game to use with my Intro students to review for our test.

    1. I do not know if you received my information but I copied the URL address. I did send it to this web address
    http://www.livebinders.com/play/play_or_edit?id=311924
Access key is your e-mail address.
    2. I created a binder that had the directions and example for creating a Comic book.
    3. Live Binder was easier than I anticipated. I would like to use it with my students for creating Portfolios

For week 6, I used the piknik site to edit my pictures and then Photopeach to create a slideshow. I just used pictures that I had downloaded of friends and family. I thought that both of these sites were extremely user friendly….which is saying a lot, because I am usually technologically incompetent. I am excited, too, because I will probably use these sites to create a slideshow for my son’s graduation party. I can’t wait!!!

    • Rose Says:

Don’t feel badly, Jennifer, as this week I am feeling a bit incompetent techno-wise! Working on the xtimeline for one of my weekly assignments and am having trouble with the site running so slowly. I’m sure your slideshow of your son’s grad party will be neat! I’ll want to see it! ;)

I know what you mean, I feel incompetent computer savy at times too. It is nice to read everyones responses and I know what you are talking about. Thanks to Ann I am learning so much about Web 2.0 tools expanded far beyond my art programs experience.

    • kbaker1247 Says:

That is a great idea. I should look into that so I can get a head start for next year.

    1. I created a tagxedo and a wordle using titles of web 2.0 tools. I printed off both and placed them in your school mailbox.
    2. I plan on using this in class on my Ancient India Choice Board as a vocabulary assignment. I think the kids will enjoy creating them.
    3. I wasn’t sure how to attach or copy/paste or place either in my dropbox for you to see. I was however, able to figure out how to copy and paste the wordle into your email. (not sure if it worked though)

I like your idea of using the tagxedo and wordle on yout Choice Board for your vocabulary assignment It gives that students another way to interact with the vocabulary and learn it. :-)

1.I created the postcards as one of the choices you gave me.
2.I made it for 3 people.
3.I thought the project was very easy.

      Dakota
Did you have the opportunity to put some type of Graphic on the front side of the postcards? I saw where you could add a title and text to describe the graphic or picture on the front, but could not figure out how to put the graphic or picture on??? Any help would be appreciated!? :)

I used the Jeopardy Game in class yesterday. I liked it better than the older version of Jeopardy that I had around because it had a neat way of keeping score for you. I did make a couple of mistakes in it and when I went back to fix them it gave me a new code and I had to redo my Tiny URL to get to it again.

    • krudisill Says:

I used the Jeopardy Game also. I had trouble inserting a picture as a clue. It took me several tries before I was successful.I hope to use it during my nutrition unit.

Do they have to be 4 different Web 2.0 tools?

  9. jgaston1227 Says:

For week 6, I completed my project on Photo Peach and emailed the final piece to Ann Zinyemba. I downloaded onto Picnic 10 family photos. I then spent time cropping and changing them in the website Picnik. I spent a lot more time than I thought because there were so many options that I lost track of time. The tutorial was very easy to use and follow. I then uploaded my photos to Photo Peach which was also a very easy site to use. The tutorial with this webiste made this easy to use and follow. I like the option that if you upload too many pictures to Photo Peach you have two different sides, the photos to keep and the ones to delete. Both of these websites are easy to use especially since I am technologically disabled. Yes, the web tools went as planned and better. I would definitely use these again. I would love to be better about taking more pictures of my kids in their activities and putting them into a slide show like this and sharing them with family and friends. Jenny Gaston

It is interesting to hear how everyone is using these web tools to create items for personal and classroom use. My thoughts are to use some of these tools with my STAR class. I think that this is one class that I feel I need to work extra hard to find activities that they enjoy. With Mondays being weekend round up, they do not always like coming in and being willing or ready to talk. I am always trying to find different ways for them to share and I believe that some of these tools they would enjoy using for that or maybe Character Ed. activities.

Picknic is no longer registering new users. The site will be offically closing to all users on April 19, 2012.Just thought I would put that out there.

  12. devonlachar Says:

I used Wordle which i would strongly recommend because it is very easy and it can keep you organized.

  13. alexislively Says:

I used the Quizinator tool for this week, I don’t recommend it to students, but definitely to teachers.

  14. ryanharrison Says:

I used the post card Web 2.0 tool. It went very well. I had to take a picture on my cell phone and send it to my dropbox. That was a negative about. But I still thought everything went well.

  15. sobrien1245 Says:

I used the Picnik photo editing site. I tried to go to the slideshow option, however, the site indicated it was moving to Google+ and was not allowing new members to join the site. The slideshow option was only available to members so I continuted to edit my photos on the site. I created a collage and then a slideshow in PowerPoint to show my original and then edited photos. The editing was easy to do on this site. I liked some of the options available for editing, especially the sunless tan option. :-)

    • sobrien1245 Says:

I used this site to create a collage of our wedding photos. I am going to spend more time using this site to create more collages for friends and family since I have not sent any of them wedding photos. We have friends getting married this weekend, so I think I will make a photo collage for them, too.

  16. jalenlatta Says:

For week 6 project, I did the photo editing project. I used Picnik site
and the Photo Peach slideshow site. And i got it done quickly. I got my photos from Facebook. This project was alot more fun than week 5 project, I would use this in the future at a wedding or anything like that.

  17. Doug Says:

For Week 6, I created a quiz over Web 2.0 Tools using Quizinator. While I only used true-false questions, I like the idea of creating a question bank, allowing you to creat different or a variety of quizzes/tests for different classes. Sometimes students “collaborate” way too much in regards to helping each other…the feature can help teacher’s get a better overall view of the knowledge of all the classes…not just the first couple that take it! I also like the features of classifying the questions for different subjects or units, allowing Quizinator to store all your questions for each class subject or unit in one place…then you can sort or query to questions you would like to see for a particular unit in order to create your quiz! That is a neat feature!
